Selling a business is one of the most important—and emotional—financial decisions an owner will ever make. I know that firsthand, because before I ever represented business owners, I was one.

In 1995, my partner and I started First Impression Security Doors out of our garage in Mesa, Arizona. Over the years, we built it into a company that, at the time we sold it, operated out of our own manufacturing facility and had thirteen employees. Today that business is the largest ornamental iron company in the state of Arizona.

We sold the company through a local Business Broker in 2001. My transition into the Business Broker industry came about when the President of the firm asked me to join his company. I accepted his offer and quickly became one of the top sales agents in the company.

I am now affiliated with West USA and I focus on helping Arizona business owners sell their companies quietly, at the right time, and for the best possible price. West USA is the #1 Independently Owned Brokerage in Arizona and has one of the largest Business Broker groups in the state. The company was formed in 1986 and has 23 offices around the state, including 10 in the Phoenix metro area. This gives our businesses for sale listings excellent exposure.

My Philosophy

I don’t chase listings—I focus on outcomes. I focus on quality, not quantity. Some business brokers will list any business regardless of the quality just to be able to brag that they have more listings than anyone. I turn down the majority of potential listings that come my way because I want to be able to spend the proper amount of time with each of my clients. It takes a lot of time and effort to get a deal done.

I will give you a clear, honest assessment of value, timing, and expectations, even when it’s not what you hoped to hear.

I am an active member of the Arizona Business Brokers Association, and I previously served as their Ethics Chairman. I took that role seriously because this industry only works when business owners can trust the business broker sitting across the table from them. That trust is something I’ve worked to earn with every client and every transaction for over twenty years.

I am an active member of the International Business Brokers Association. The IBBA is the organization behind the Master CBI designation, which I’m one of only four brokers in Arizona to hold. Earning it took years of closed transactions, advanced coursework, and a real commitment to the standards the IBBA sets for its members.
